	I generally have no idea of what I'm aiming for prior to embarking on a new painting. I am interested in the imagination and what we may find harbouring there, given the chance to explore it. By painting in the way that I do I am hoping to give my imagination free reign, using paint and the landscape format as a catalyst. Ben Deakin's homepage


	Mel completed an MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts in 1998. He is currently funded by the London Institute to research a Ph.D. degree into: Cognition; visual perception and drawing with computer generated programs. Mel Blain's homepage
